Sandra Silva Pinto delivers presentation at ECCOMAS 2024
On June, 3rd, 2024, Sandra Silva Pinto has delivered a presentation entitled "Hybrid-Trefftz Finite Elements for Non-Homogeneous Wave Propagation Problems" at the 9th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering (ECCOMAS 2024).
The biennial ECCOMAS Congresses is the largest European meeting of researchers working on Computational Mechanics and ECCOMAS 2024 is a sequel to the successful previous ECCOMAS congresses in Brussels (1992), Paris (1996), Barcelona (2000), Jyväskylä (2004), Venice (2008), Vienna (2012), Crete (2016), Paris (2020) and Oslo (2022).
Sandra Silva Pinto's presentation encompasses her work during the last 10 months on a novel, Trefftz-based Dual Reciprocity Method, where the functions used to approximate the particular solution are of the same type as the functions used to construct the complementary solution (with different wave numbers), leading to important algorithmic simplifications and superior computational efficiency.
Besides Sandra, the ECCOMAS 2024 paper was co-authored by Ionut Moldovan and Daniela Bendea.
Kudos to Sandra for her first presentation at a conference. Quite a successful one indeed!
