Cosmin Chiorean is a Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
His research interests focus on improving the computational methods for design of civil structures, industrial buildings and bridges. His research includes both computational and experimental techniques with emphasis on the development and application of advanced numerical methods to solve problems relevant to structural and geotechnical engineering.
He has published more than 100 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and has authored a book entitled “Software applications for nonlinear analysis of 3D frame structures”. He is the main developer of a FE software packages GFAS (A Finite Element System for Geotechnical Applications) and RSL III 2D (Local Seismic Response for soils and structures) products of Geostru Corporation (Italy).
